About Lucila Zavala

Puerto Rican soprano and recent MM graduate from Rice University, where she had studied with Ana María Martínez. A National Semifinalist in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and recipient of the Met Opera Education Fund Grant, she made her European debut in 2025 as Händel’s Alcina at the Trentino Music Festival with the stage director José María Condemi and the conductor Neal Goren. She has trained at Houston Grand Opera’s Young Artist Vocal Academy and this fall joins Catapult Opera’s Digital Opera Shorts under the direction of Robin Guarino with pianist Neal Goren
